PM Modi to inaugurate international convention centre in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi on July 15 and will inaugurate projects worth Rs 1500 crores. The Security has also been beefed up in the city ahead of PM's visit.

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi on Thursday, and will inaugurate schemes worth Rs 744.02 crores and will also lay the foundation stones for projects worth Rs 838.91 crores. He will also inaugurate the Rudraksh International Convention Centre built at a cost of Rs 186 crores that will offer a glimpse of the cultural richness of the ancient city of Kashi, and stands as a testimony to the friendship between India and Japan. An audio/visual message by the Prime Minister of Japan might also be played at the event.

The two-storey convention centre is located in the posh Sigra area and spans 2.87 hectares of land and can seat 1,200 people. Also, the shape of the Convention Centre will resemble a 'Shiva Linga' and the entire building will glow with LED lights at night. The idea behind building the Centre is to provide opportunities for social and cultural interactions between people in Varanasi and to strengthen the city's competitiveness by developing its tourism sector.

Security beefed up in Varanasi ahead of PM Modi's visit

Prime Minister Modi will reach the Rudraksh Convention Center at 12:30 pm, from where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects. Apart from this, the PM is scheduled to hold a meeting with around 500 dignitaries at the same venue. On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi plant a 'Rudraksh' sapling.

He will lay the foundation stone of Skilling and Technical Support Center (CSTC) of Central Petrochemicals Engineering and Technical Institute (CIPET) at a cost of Rs 40.10 crore, and will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of multiple development projects worth over Rs 1,500 crore. With the formation of CSTC, new employment opportunities will be available for youth in Purvanchal. With the inauguration of the Regional Eye Institute, people will not have to go to Chennai and Delhi, as affordable treatment will be available in Varanasi. To strengthen health facilities, PM Modi will also inaugurate many other schemes.

Apart from this, cruise and Ro-Ro will be also be inaugurated to promote tourism. To see the art and culture of Kashi, under the cultural upliftment, 6 LED TVs have also been installed in the city, various types of signage giving information about the ghats are also to be inaugurated. Many schemes related to drinking water and health are also included. At the same time, PM Modi will also inaugurate Godaulia Multi-Level Parking and Ashapur ROB to ease traffic congestion in the city.

Security Beefed up Ahead of PM's Visit

The Security has been beefed up in Varanasi ahead of PM Modi's visit. As many as 8,000 security personnel have been deployed in the city whereas a team of Special Protection Group is also on the toe for the last three days. Apart from this, at least 130 jawans, equipped with hi-tech weapons and binoculars, have been deployed on high-rise buildings. The Paramilitary forces will be deployed outside the Rudraksh Convention Centre and as many as 21 IPS officers will be on duty to ensure proper security in the city.
