Lucknow: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday reached Lucknow and held a meeting with former state minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, who heads the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP).
As political parties have begun preparation in full swing for the upcoming UP polls, AIMIM is making efforts to test electoral waters in the state. AIMIM had not won a single seat in 2017 elections.
Speaking to reporters here, Owaisi said, " I am meeting Om Prakash Rajbhar and the two of us are sitting before you. We stand together and we will work under his leadership. I will later be meeting Shivpal Yadav who heads the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PSPL). Shivpal is a big name in UP."
A day after Bengal CM Banerjee's attack, AIMIM chief said that never was a man born who can buy Asaduddin Owaisi with money.
"Never was a man born who can buy Asaduddin Owaisi with money. Her allegation is baseless and she is restless. She should worry about her own home, so many of her people are going to BJP. She has insulted the voters of Bihar and the people who voted for us," Owaisi said.
"Mamta Banerjee was a former partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. When there was a riot in Gujarat, she did not remember the issues of the minorities because she had an ally with BJP in those days. Hopefully, our party will fight it out in West Bengal elections.
Hitting back at Mamata Banerjee after the Bengal Chief Minister said the BJP is "spending crores of rupees to bring in a party from Hyderabad to divide Muslim votes", in an apparent reference to Owaisi's party.
The AIMIM won five seats in the Bihar this year. After its good show there, Owaisi's party has announced to contest in next year's Bengal assembly election.
