Official rejects blame for UP crematorium deaths

The Municipal Council chairman Vikas Teotia said the person who passed on the sub-standard quality of raw materials should be taken to task for the fatal wall crash at the crematorium in Ghaziabad.

Ghaziabad: Muradnagar Municipal Council chairman Vikas Teotia on Monday held a press conference pleading innocence in the Ghaziabad crematorium deaths in which over twenty-five people died and 17 others injured.

Teotia said the people who are responsible for building the structure and the material used in the case are to be blamed for the incident.

"I have never seen or heard anything like this [incident]. My heart goes out to the people who are suffering now and we demand strict legal action against the culprits and those responsible," Teotia added.

He also promised to provide compensation to the kins of the deceased and help them on behalf of Nagar Palika Parishad. Teotia also appealed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to increase the ex-gratia amount.
