Kanpur: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and brutally murdered on Diwali night by two men in Kanpur's Bhadras village.
Both the accused were hired by one of their relatives to get the child’s body parts to be used in superstitious rituals.
Kamruddin, the main accused in the alleged gang rape of a 19-year-old law student, was arrested on Tuesday from Faridabad in Haryana, the police said.
The relatives who practised witchcraft and black magic have been childless for 21 years and believed the use of a child's heart and liver in the ritual would help them have a child.
SP (Rural) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava said,'' The accused during the interrogation have accepted that they committed the crime. They were paid Rs 1,500 to commit the crime. They sexually assaulted the girl before killing her."
Condemning this gruesome incident, Dr PK Khatri, a Kanpur-based psychiatrist, said that the people who commit such kind of acts are generally mentally unstable.
"Mentally unstable people carry out such incidents as they don't have the sense to realise what are they going to do. Such people need to be taken to the mental hospital where they can given treatment and counselling," he said.
He further said that such people don't consider themselves as mentally ill, so they need to be forcefully brought to the hospital for treatment and counselling.
On the evening of Diwali, the killer, who lived in the neighbourhood, took the girl from home on the pretext of getting her firecrackers. They first raped her in the forest, then took out the organs from the girl's body after killing her.
According to the police, the killers had given the child's internal organs to the couple who hired them for the job. The police have recovered the knife used in the murder and the couple has been arrested.
