Meerut: Uttar Pradesh Police have cracked the case of mysterious disappearance of a policeman posted at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Mar. this year saying that the cop was murdered by a tantrik who he had paid money to killl his wife, officials said on Saturday. Meerut police said that investigation into the case has revealed that the constable wanted to get his his wife killed by the tantrik.
But, the tantrik killed the cop, who had paid him over Rs 4 lakh and was pressuring him to kill his wife. It can be recalled that the head constable Gopichand, a resident of Pauhalli village in Meerut had disappeared on 26 Mar. 2023 under mysterious circumstances. On Mar. 30, 2023, Gopichand's wife Rekha lodged a missing report at Sardhana police station.
Following the complaint by the cop's wife, police registered a case and started investigating the matter. SP Dehat Kamlesh Bahadur said that during the subsequent investigation and call details of the cop, it was revealed that Gopichand used to visit an ashram on the banks of Ganga in Hastinapur a lot for the last one year.
It was found that the cop was in contact with a tantrik at the ashram. SP Dehat said that constable Gopichand had contacted the tantrik Ganeshanand alias Ganpat to get his wife killed. The SP said that Gopichand had given Rs 4.5 lakh to the tantrik as contract killing money to get his wife killed. Police said that on the day of the planned murder of his wife, the cop had reached the tantrik with Rs 1.5 lakh as an installment of the payment.
However, when the tantrik failed to kill the cop's wife, the cop pressured him over the contract killing. In a fit of rage, the tantrik killed the cop, police said. Police have arrested the tantrik and also recovered Rs 1.5 lakh cash from him. Further investigation into the case is going on.
