Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh): A group of unidentified miscreants, for reasons unknown, attacked a family and ransacked their house in Jaunpur on Monday.
According to sources, the miscreants enquired the whereabouts of the 'head of the family', 54-year-old Alamgir Ahmed, who at that time was offering namaz at a nearby mosque.
Unable to elicit proper information, the miscreants attacked the family members with sticks/iron rods and later vandalised the place, before marching off from the house.
Ahmed's wife - Kitabun Nishan, sons- Anshar Ahmed, Abu Shema and daughter - Haqiqun Nisha, were grievously injured and were shifted to a nearby hospital. All their condition, except for Anshar Ahmed, is said to be stable.
Anshar Ahmed, who received multiple injuries, was transferred to a private hospital for according better treatment.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, a distressed Alamgir Ahmed said, "I had gone for prayers on Sunday night. Someone informed me that some unidentified miscreants have attacked my family members. I rushed to my house, but they were gone the moment I reached the house."
Meanwhile, the locals claimed that the family has had a long quarrel with someone from the same village.
A case has been registered in this regard and a search operation is on to nab the accused.
