Farmers demand equal compensation, service roads in UP

The farmers' protest march, which started from a village in Meerut, has reached Ghaziabad even as the state government officials are discussing the matter with all concerned to find a way out.

Ghaziabad: Demanding service roads and equal compensation to all farmers, whose land was acquired for building Delhi-Meerut highway, a large number of farmers under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Balraj) have organised a protest march on Wednesday.

The farmers' protest march, which started from a village in Meerut, has reached Ghaziabad even as the state government officials discuss the matter with all concerned to find a way out.
Government officials told ETV Bharat here that officials are discussing the matter and there should be a solution to the problem soon.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Balraj) leaders have reiterated their support to the farmers, saying they were till now holding a peaceful protest to let the government decide but in case their demands for service roads along the highway and equal compensation to all were not met they would block the roads.

"We will block the roads and there would be farmers' protests all across the country," they said.
