Jaunpur: Two people who tried to impersonate as transgenders were brutally thrashed and their hair tonsured by residents of Lalapur village under Sarpataha police limits in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur on Tuesday.
According to sources, two fake trans persons entered into the Lalapur village this morning and started seeking alms in a person's house where a baby was born recently. While performing the rituals of blessings, some villagers caught them and beaten black and blue. Later, the villagers tonsured the duo's hair.
The villagers have lodged a police complaint stating that the two fake transpersons had visited a person's house asking for money to bless the newborn baby. Following this, villagers punished them.
Based on the complaint, police have arrested three persons of the village for assaulting the duo.
Sanjay Kumar, SP Jaunpur City said," The case of assault has come to the notice. In this case, the police have registered a case against three people and arrested them. Further probe is on."
