Azamgarh man pretends to be hospital staff, gets COVID vaccination

According to the government, only the front-line health workers should be vaccinated in the first phase of corona vaccination. The names of these front line health workers were also registered on the Covid-19 portal.

Azamgarh: Defying the COVID protocol norms of vaccinating the medical practitioners and frontline workers, a man from Azamgarh not only got the shot first but also displayed the vaccination certification on social media that quickly went viral.

After the matter came to light, the health department officials have now claimed that the man lied to them pretending to be a hospital worker and an investigation has been launched into the matter.

"A person is coming out claiming to be vaccinated. He allegedly pretended to be a private hospital doctor. The case is being investigated," Dr Amita Aggarwal said.

According to the government, only the front-line health workers should be vaccinated in the first phase of corona vaccination. The names of these front line health workers were also registered on the Covid-19 portal.

The Health Department claims that a total of 16,089 health workers were registered for the first phase in the district including staff from government and private hospitals.

No vaccination date has been set for other front line workers.
