College professor in the dock after purported video shows him making obscene calls to girl student in UP's Jaunpur

College Principal Alok Kumar Singh said that a show-cause notice has been sent to the accused professor to explain his position over the matter adding if the professor is found guilty, action will be taken as per law.

Jaunpur: The administration at the TD College affiliated to Purvanchal University, located in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh has issued a show- cause to a professor after a purported video showing him making obscene phone call to a girl student went viral, sources said on Friday. College Principal Alok Kumar Singh said that on Thursday evening, a journalist based in Lucknow sent him the purported video asking him to confirm its authenticity.

During the preliminary examination of the video, the video seemed to be authentic, he added. After the video surfaced, a show-cause notice has been sent to the accused professor to explain his position over the matter. Principal Alok Kumar Singh said that if the professor is found guilty, action will be taken as per law.

It is said that in the purported video, the accused professor asks the girl student to have physical relations in lieu of good marks in her B.Ed and TET exams. However, the girl student secretly recorded all the calls of the professor and made the video viral on social media, sources said. Meanwhile, the college students on Friday staged a protest against the accused professor before the principal at his office.

The protesting students demanded action against the accused professor as soon as possible. Videos from the campus emerged on Friday showing the students inside the principal chamber. Sources said that the principal assured the students that action as warranted under law will be taken against the accused teacher if the charges are established against him.

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police of Line Bazar reached the TD College campus to prevent any law and order situation.
