Hathras: A case has been registered against a number of websites and their users for uploading pictures of Hathras gangrape victim and her family members, police said.
Social activist Nutan Thakur got the complaint registered against the websites and their users who had uploaded the pictures, revealing the identity of the victim's family.
The police, however, said that the websites have started removing the pictures ever since the case was filed.
The case, filed under sections 228 A and 72 of IT Act, talks about how the victim's real name was made known to the public and how her father's picture was circulated on the websites, which is against the law.
People, who made unwarranted comments, are being identified and booked, the police said.
