Basti (Uttar Pradesh): With just last two phases of the ongoing Lok Sabha Polls 2019 remaining, the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh witnessed the launch of Booth Level Election Management Plan (BEMP), a mobile-based application which would enable voters to gain access to information pertaining to each booth of the district.
The application which can be downloaded from the google play store is a first of its kind poll-related application to be launched in the country.
Invented locally, the application can be downloaded by anyone having an Android-based mobile phone and thereby receive information including the voter list of each booth in the district, each Booth Level Officer's contact details, the number of voters in each booth and even the facilities available in the polling booths.

"With the help of this application, any voter, non-voter or official can gain knowledge about their respective booths within a matter of seconds. It has been launched for the ongoing LS polls and we have uploaded every necessary information pertaining to each booth within the district in this App," said Raj Sheikh, District Magistrate, Basti.
He added, "Apart from the present polls, the application can also be used for future elections and its reach can be expanded beyond the district and the state. Poll-related data from each district of a state or each state within the country can be uploaded on this App."
