Shamli (Uttar Pradesh): The constitution of India is turning 70 but the people of Indira Nagar village at Unn tehsil in Shamli district are still deprived of the government assistance.
The name of the village is the same as the Iron Lady of India, Indira Gandhi, but, it seems as if this village is not part of the country.
All the government aid dies down before reaching this village. People in the village are still living in thatched houses and the village doesn’t have a power supply line.
The village is deprived of Government schemes
A village of around 250 people is deprived of basic facilities and various government schemes. Most of the families in the village are living in temporary houses, which are always prone to accidents.

Temporary houses say the tales
This village is predominantly a village of Kori community. The dilapidated site of most of the temporary houses is enough to tell their sad story.
Villagers said that they have filled the forms for new houses, but the condition remains the same. Villagers have decided to teach a lesson to the politicians who will come asking for votes in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, a resident of the village said, "It's very sad that villagers here are still living in thatched houses. Our country has got independent but not the people of this village. The government never paid any attention to the plight of villagers."
Villagers have installed their own power lines
The officials of the power department claimed that the entire district has been fully electrified. But, the Indira Nagar village is a live example of the false claims of the department.
People of the village have installed their own power supply lines, using bamboo and other temporary structures.
The electricity department is yet to connect the village with power supply lines. Villagers are forced to use the power for irrigation purposes for their homes.
No connection, but electricity meters are there
It is surprising that the village doesn’t have power supply lines, but it does have electricity meters, which have already started generating electricity bills.
People of the Indira Nagar village are forced to fend for themselves as the people who are responsible for their well being have turned a deaf ear.
