Pilibhit: In an unusual case, a woman from Chhattisgarh reached Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit and contacted the police claiming her eight-year-old son had been sold. While the Police succeeded in finding the missing child in five hours, the truth turned out to be quite different than what the woman had earlier described.
The mother, Sangeeta, a daily wage worker, had lied to the police and said that two-months-back when she had gone to Andhra Pradesh to make a living, taking her child along, an auto driver sold the child to a woman from Pilibhit.
However, the police found that she had voluntarily given her child to another woman, Shabnam, in whose possession and care the child was.
After being contacted by the police, Shabnam reached the police station with the child and told them that she used to work with Sangeeta as a labourer and Sangeeta's son used to beg.

It was then, Sangeeta handed over her son to Shabnam asking her to take care of and educate the child, after which the latter returned to Pilibhit.
Shabnam used to make Sangeeta and her son talk over the phone, however, for the past one month she couldn't contact Sangeeta as her mobile was damaged.
When the matter came to the notice of Superintendent of Police, Jayaprakash Yadav, who had constituted a team to find the child, Sangeeta confessed and said she panicked when she did not get to talk to her son for over a month.
On the order of SP Jai Prakash Yadav, the child will be now presented in the court, after which further action will be taken.
