Varanasi(Uttar Pradesh): The city of temples and ghats on Sunday echoed with the shout for joy as 5 lakh devotees hailing from different parts of the country paid obeisance to Sant Ravidas on his birth anniversary.
Further, people from Punjab were more in numbers, the devotees prayed for world peace and happiness. "Every time I visit this place my heart gets filled with serenity and joy," said a devotee from Jalandhar.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday visited Shri Guru Sant Ravidas Temple where she offered prayers.
“Today, I offered prayers to Sant Guru Ravidas at Sant Shiromani Sant Guru Ravidas Janmasthan Mandir. I am very happy. I feel I am very fortunate,” Priyanka said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Sant Ravidas Temple twice. The first visit was in February 2016 when he spent 15 minutes at the temple. In February 2019, Modi offered prayers for Sant Ravidas and laid the foundation of Shri Guru Ravidas Birthplace development project in Seer Goverdhanpur.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has visited the holy place last year.
