Noida: Five criminals, who used to steal ATM cards and withdraw money illegally, have been arrested on the basis of a complaint by Prempal Sharma, former driver of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, police said.
According to police, an FIR was lodged after Sharma, who used to be the driver of Modi when he served as chief minister of Gujarat, filed a complaint that someone had fraudulently withdrawn Rs 2,75,000 from his account.
An investigation was initiated and a gang of five - Rajinder Singh, Umesh Kumar, Omkar Verma, Deepak and Satish - was busted, the police said.
"Thirty-four ATM cards and three motorbikes have been recovered from them", the police said, adding that Satish was identified as the leader of the gang.
Police said the arrested are history-sheeters and have served jail terms for their criminal activities.
