Hyderabad: In a hair-raising incident, two siblings instead of giving a decent funeral to the deceased elder brother, chopped his body into three parts, in Hyderabad's Langar Houz locality. The accused were carrying the dismembered body stuffed in a plastic bag. Local people became suspicious when the duo was carrying the body in an auto-rickshaw. Sensing trouble, the accused dumped the body by the roadside and tried to flee from the spot, but in vain.
The deceased Ashok (50) was undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Secunderabad. He was suffering from cancer. Ashok was also suffering from alcohol use disorder also. He used to beat his younger brother Raju, 45, and younger sister Swaroopa often. The brother and sister duo were nursing a grudge against Ashok for a long time. So, Raju and Swaroopa teamed up to take revenge against their elder brother after his death. The body was chopped into three pieces by the accused. Besides, they didn't have money to meet the funeral expenses of the deceased.
Langar Houz Inspector K Srinivas said that Balaraj and Balamma (85), residents of NFCL Colony in Rajendranagar area of Hyderabad, have three sons and two daughters. Balraj, a postal department staff, died earlier. The eldest son and eldest daughter had been married and both were staying in other parts of the city. Balamma was staying in NFCL Colony with her second son Ashok (50), younger son Raju (45), and younger daughter Swaroopa (35), said the inspector.
Ashok to meet his alcohol expenses used to snatch the pension money from his mother Ashok's condition deteriorated as he was suffering from cancer and he was admitted to the hospital. As the condition worsened, he was brought home. He died on May 9. Raju and Swaroop did not let the neighbours know about it. The body was kept in the house for two days.
Raju and Swarupa, who left the body in the house for two days, got angry remembering the deceased misdeeds. They were angry that their elder brother used to steal money for consuming alcohol. Now, they didn't have a penny to give a decent funeral. Ashok's body was cut into three pieces with a vegetable knife. The head, legs and torso were wrapped in two plastic bags.
On Thursday night, the brother and sister duo carried the body parts stuffed in a bag. When they said that they did not have the money for the fare, the auto driver dropped them in front of the military hospital. A person noticed the accused leaving behind the bag on the footpath nearby. Alerted, he caught Raju and Swaroop with the help of two others and informed the police.
Inspector Srinivas arrived at the spot and opened the bag. The accused gave incoherent answers to the police query. On Friday morning, the police called the deceased eldest brother Vijay, who is staying at Mangalhat, and recorded his statement. The body of the deceased was handed to his elder brother after the post-mortem on Saturday. Police have detained the accused for further questioning.
