Hyderabad (Telangana): With 80 per cent of construction work completed at various sites, the Telangana government is set to hand over around 50,000 dignity houses to beneficiaries under its flagship 2 BHK scheme by August.
At a review meeting of the project here on Wednesday, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said that the government aimed at providing one lakh double-bedroom houses to the needy in the city.
"During the meeting, Minister KTR stated that 80 per cent construction works have been completed at various sites in the city," said a tweet from the Minister's twitter handle.
KTR, as he is popularly known, said that the state government was taking up the work on top priority, as a few completed houses have already been allocated to the beneficiaries.
He instructed officials to set up drinking water and power supply to the houses as construction gets completed so the remaining houses are ready to occupy by Dasara.
The officials meanwhile told the Minister that work was going on at a speedy pace despite the ongoing lockdown.
The 2BHK scheme envisages providing 2-bedroom houses to all the houseless poor families in the state in a phased manner.
