Jogulamba Gadwal: In what was dubbed as medical negligence, parents of a seven-year-old accused a private hospital of using instant adhesive - Fevikwik - instead of sutures to cover a deep wound in the face of their injured boy. Police said the incident has been brought to their notice by the boy's family.

Police said the injured boy who hails from Lingasugur of Karnataka's Raichur district came to Aiza in Telangana's Gadwal district recently to attend a wedding ceremony. On Thursday, the seven-year-old fell down while playing at the marriage hall in the night. The family rushed the boy to a hospital in the vicinity.

The boy had suffered a deep cut above the left eye. As he showed the injury, the hospital staff in the emergency facility patched him up using an adhesive. The family accused that they had seen the staff using FeviKwik instead of the regular sutures.

The boy's father spoke to the hospital doctor who assured that he would guarantee the safety of the boy in case if the hospital staff had made any mistake. The doctor also assuaged the concerns of the family that he will be completely responsible for the boy's safety. The family, however, has approached the police and have preferred a complaint.

When contacted, sub-Inspector Naresh Kumar who was pursuing the complaint said the investigation is underway and action on the complaint would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation. It is still unclear whether the hospital used medical grade glue.

What is skin glue? According to National Health Service UK, skin glue is a special medical glue used to close wounds. It says the skin glue can be used on its own or with stitches or adhesive tape. It will form a protective waterproof covering over the wound on which it is applied.

Skin glue is generally used for cuts or wounds that are small or minor and up to 5cm long have straight edges that can be easily pulled together. Skin glue is often used to close wounds on the face or head, some parts of the arms and legs, and the trunk of the body (torso). NHS says it isn't suitable for wounds over joints, like your knees, groin or hands.
