Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi's (TRS) Kalvakuntla Kavitha won the byelection to Nizamabad MLC seat with a huge majority of votes on Monday.
Daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao and former MP of Nizamabad secured a landslide victory, bagging 728 votes out of 823.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to get 56 votes, the Congress party, on the other hand, got only a marginal 28 votes. Nizamabad local authority constituency which has 824 electors, a total of 823 votes were polled.

Kavitha lost the 2019 parliament elections to her BJP rival D Arvind. However, she has come back into active politics with the thumping victory in the byelections.
She has her own identity in the Telangana State politics with her own style and charisma. She is an impromptu speaker who knows every nook and corner of Nizamabad. She has also made great contributions in popularising 'Bathukamma' State festival.
