He was reportedly upset after the chief minister issued the deadline to the workers. Expressing grief over Karim Khan's death, all party leaders and RTC unions lashed at CM K Chandrasekhar Rao making him wholly responsible for the death of RTC employees.

According to the family members of Karim Khan, he was suffering from mental agony following Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s tough stance on the RTC strike.

When asked about the death of RTC employees, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao refused to own up the blame. “TSRTC workers who have committed suicide are not my responsibility. They are responsible for themselves. We did not ask them to protest. Unions provoked them,” the Chief Minister had said, addressing a press conference on October 25.
