Rangareddy (Telangana): As many as 15 children who were working at Plaster of Paris companies and a liquor bottle cleaning unit at Kalanagar and Pasumamula village in Hayathnagar were rescued by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) in Telangana's Rangareddy district on Friday, police said.
An accused Channabathina Ravi (30) of Shiva Traders, who employed the children, has been arrested by police while two others have escaped.
Children between eight to 15-years-old were detained and forced to work in hazardous conditions, a team raided Shiva Traders, which cleans empty liquor bottles, at Pasumamula and rescued five girls from the same village, police added.
In another case, the Anti-Human Trafficking unit raided Sri Pavan Putra Plaster Company and Laxman's Plaster Company and rescued 10 children, including 9 boys and one girl.
They belonged to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra, police said. All children were detained in sheds located within the premises of the companies and exploiting them for labour work inhumanly in contravention to the labour laws, the police said in a press release.
