TN: Nandhanam Metro Station gets electric vehicle charging facility

Chennai got its first public charging facility for electric cars, electric bikes and electric autos at Nandhanam Metro station. The fast charger installed at the metro station can charge a vehicle battery to its full capacity within an hour.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu): The city got its first public charging facility for electric cars, electric bikes and electric autos at Nandhanam Metro station.

According to sources, at Nandhanam, three vehicles could be charged at a time using the slow charger.

The fast charger installed at the metro station can charge a vehicle battery to its full capacity within an hour.

In the recently released Tamil Nadu Electric Vehicle Policy 2019, the government had said that it would make efforts to set up a charging station within three square km grid of Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchy, Madurai, Salem and Tirunelveli, and one charging station would be set up for every 25 km on both sides of national highways.

Chennai: Electric vehicles can be recharged at Nandhanam Metro Railway Station



Management of Nandhanam Metro along with Central government EESL company implemented recharging facilities in Nandhanam Metro Railway station. Electric cars, electric bikes, and electric autos can be recharged here. Within an hour  80 percent of the charge can be done. The offer comes with a charge of 10 rupees per unit.



Next, the same process is undergoing in Chennai HighCourt, Anna Nagar East, Koyambedu metro stations to implement electric charge facilities. Private companies shows more interest in implementing the recharge service in Metros.



Tamilnadu government taking measures to protect environmental pollution by producing more electric vehicles and implementing this kind of recharge facilities.
