Chennai: Korukkupet Police are in pursuit of two women who stole 150 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs five lakh from a store at Chennai's Washermanpet on Wednesday.
Posing as customers, women steal jewellery from Chennai store
The CCTV footage from the store clearly shows two saree-clad middle-aged women sitting across the owner. One woman was pretending to scour through gold items, and asked the owner to show her more designs.
While the owner was reaching out to pull out another item, the other woman, within the blink of an eye, picks up a jewellery item and slides it into her handbag.
The two women then leave the shop, pretending to be dissatisfied by the designs displayed.
On finding that a gold chain was missing, the owner filed a complaint with the police, who are currently in pursuit of the women.
