Chennai water crisis: Train bringing water from Vellore likely to reach today

The water-carrying-train from Tamil Nadu's Vellore district will be reaching Chennai today. Chennai is facing acute water crisis and the train is an attempt to ease the problem in the city.

Vellore (Tamil Nadu): The first train carrying water from Jolarpet in Tamil Nadu's Vellore district is expected to reach Chennai on Friday. It is expected to ease Tamil Nadu's severe water crisis problem.

Tamil Nadu government had announced to bring in water from Vellore by rail wagons as Chennai is facing an acute water crisis. The state government will bring in 10 millions of litre (MLD) water per day via rail network from Jolarpet to tackle the widespread acute water crisis across the state of Tamil Nadu.
