Bundi: The charred body of a woman was recovered from a house at Khera village under Gendoli police limits in Rajasthan's Bundi on Monday. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, the matter came to light after family members of the deceased woman spotted the body of the woman and alerted the police about the same. Police reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem.
According to locals, the incident took place when the woman was alone at her house in Khera village and an accused youth barged in, raped her, poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze.
"The body was found inside the house. It is being moved to a government hospital for an autopsy and a case has been registered. While the death of the woman is being examined, it is suspected that the woman was raped and later killed to erase the evidence," said Assistant Sub Inspector, Ezaz Ahmed.
"We are investigating the matter. After the report of the family, a case of rape has been registered and we have launched a manhunt to nab the accused person who is at large," he added.
