Jaipur: A 31-year-old woman was found murdered at her apartment in Jaipur's Pratap Nagar area on Tuesday evening. Her two-year-old son is missing.
Based on the crime scene assessment and circumstantial evidence, cops believe that the crime was possibly pre-planned or carried out by a close acquaintance.
The deceased woman, identified as Shweta Tiwari, was found lying on the bed and with blood oozing out from her throat.
Around 5.30 pm, when the domestic help of the flat went inside the room to clean the floors, she saw the body. She informed the neighbours who later informed the police.
“As soon as the help saw the body, she informed the relatives who later informed the police. The throat of the deceased was slit by a sharp-edged weapon. The bedsheet was drenched in blood,” said Jaipur East DCP Rahul Jain.
He further said, "When we checked woman's phone, we found that a message is sent to her husband by the kidnapper asking for a ransom of Rs 30 lakh if they want their son back, we are investigating on this matter."
The police officer said the woman from Udaipur district got married to Rohit Tiwari in January 2011. Tiwari works in a public sector oil firm and the woman was a housewife, he added.
“We have called the dog squad team and an FSL team to collect evidence. A team from Pratap Nagar police station immediately rushed to the spot. We have collected samples, checking CCTV footage and have launched an investigation to nab the accused,” Jain said.
