Barmer (Rajasthan): In a shocking sight, the body of a deceased patient was left unattended for hours at a government hospital in Barmer, even as the treatment of other patients continued next to the corpse.
According to reports, 24-year-old Rajesh Kumar was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital after his health deteriorated. However, he died and his body was not even moved from the bed he was being treated on. His body was only covered with a cloth and left unattended, even as the treatment of other patients continued in the ward.
To make matter worse, the brother of the deceased kept clinging on to the deceased's hands, thinking that his brother was still alive and his treatment was underway.
However, Barmer Principal Medical Officer (PMO) BL Mansuriya denied that the body was left unattended for hours, claiming that it was kept in the ward for 15-20 minutes due to a delay in getting a vehicle for taking the body away.
Further, Mansuriya claimed that the patient was brought dead to the hospital.
