Rajya Sabha polls 2020: Political-turmoil in Rajasthan gains momentum

Ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls, the Rajasthan government has again grabbed the attention over the alleged political crisis due to the horse-trading of MLAs. After BJP proposed a breach of privilege in the state assembly, SOG-ATS filed an FIR following which the body detained Ashok Singh Chauhan from Udaipur and Bharat Bhai in Ajmer. ACB has also lodged an FIR against Independent MLAs Suresh Tank, Khushvir Singh and Omprakash Hoodla.

Jaipur (Rajasthan): Before the Rajya Sabha polls, the genie of the alleged political crisis that arose in Rajasthan due to the horse-trading of MLAs has come out once again. It started on Friday when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) proposed a breach of privilege in the assembly. Later in the evening, the SOG-ATS lodged an FIR in this case, confirming the investigation and started the probe to take the accused into custody. Following this, the political-turmoil in Rajasthan once again gained momentum on the alleged conspiracy to topple the government.

  • BJP files a proposal for breach of privilege

On Friday afternoon, BJP leaders, including the Leader of Opposition, reached the Rajsthan Assembly and proposed a breach of privilege against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on allegations of horse-trading during the Rajya Sabha elections.

  • Congress prepares to write a letter to SOG

State government's chief whip Mahesh Joshi, while interacting with ETV Bharat, has termed BJP's move as an embarrassment. He said that he will write a letter for further action on the complaint given by the Congress in the purchase and sale of MLA.

  • SOG filing FIR

In an exclusive conversation with ETV Bharat, SOG and ATS ADG Ashok Kumar Rathore said that in this case two mobile numbers were put on the survey. Based on which the FIR has been registered, proceeding with the investigation. He accepted that the facts of money transactions and the temptation of the post on both mobile numbers have come out.

  • SOG will record CM's statement

Ashok Kumar Rathod also said that the statements of Ministers and Legislators made in this matter, including Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, will also be recorded.

  • 26 Congress MLAs issued a joint statement

After an FIR was registered in the case, the Congress issued a joint statement of its 26 MLAs in which the BJP was blamed for purchase and sale of MLA and the party was also accused of conspiring to topple the state government. The note of this joint statement was also signed by Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip.

  • Copy of FIR came out in media

On Saturday morning, a copy of the typology recorded by SOG-ATS came out in the media. In the copy, many facts related to the case were revealed. It also included the information of purchasing the MLAs at a price of Rs 25 crore, based on the interaction of the mobile numbers which were put on the surveillance.

  • Gearing-up action

Meanwhile, SOG detained Ashok Singh Chauhan from Udaipur and Bharat Bhai from Beewar in Ajmer. The background of both the accused is apparently from the BJP which will be questioned at the SOG-ATS headquarters in Jaipur.

  • SOG wrote a letter to CM and Deputy CM

Following this, SOG-ATS has written to the CM Ashok Gehlot and Deputy CM Sachin Pilot seeking time to pursue the investigation in the case. The ADG of SOG-ATS said that they have sought time to record the statement.

Rajasthan Chief Minister addressed the media and said that there is no threat to the state government, it is stable and will last for 5 years. Ashok Gehlot also asserted that the government is also preparing to win the next election.

He also said that during the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic when the entire nation is stressing to contain the spread of the deadly infection, conspiracy is being hatched to topple the Rajasthan government. He admitted that a notice has also been sent to him by the SOG so that the statements in connection with the case can be recorded.

After SOG, the ACB has also filed an FIR in the purchase and sale of MLA case against Independent MLAs Suresh Tank, Khushvir Singh and Omprakash Hoodla. ACB sources revealed that the three MLAs were found carrying crores of rupees for the deal.
