Jaipur: A rape accused allegedly set the survivor, her daughter ablaze on Sunday in Rajasthan's Jaipur as he was upset after a complaint was filed against him.
Riled at the woman's decision of approaching the police, the accused poured petrol on her and her family and set them ablaze.
The two victims suffered severe burn injuries and were rushed to a government hospital. The mother-daughter duo said to be in a serious condition.
Meanwhile, the accused, Lekhraj and three of his allies have been arrested by Jaipur police.
According to the case diary, Lekhraj went to the woman's home when she was alone, forced her to consume liquor and allegedly raped her. The accused allegedly threatened the woman and warned her against sharing the incident with anyone.
The woman, however, narrated her ordeal to her husband and the couple lodged a complaint with the police. The accused was at large after the crime.
When the accused learned about the complaint, he reached the survivor's house and set her ablaze. The accused immolated the woman's daughter when she rushed to her rescue.
On being informed about the incident, police rushed to the spot and rescued the duo and admitted them to the Jaipur DHH.
Later, police arrested the accused, Lekhraj and his three allies. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
Reportedly, the victim's family is blaming the police for this whole incident.
