Jaipur (Rajasthan): With health workers across India overlooking their personal interests and comforts in the fight against COVID-19, a 'corona warrior' from Rajasthan has proved that for them, service for the country stands above everything else.
Rammurti Meena, who is currently working as a nursing in-charge in Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Hospital, decided to skip his mother's funeral, and instead chose to stay back to help in the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
Meena, who is the ICU in-charge of the Corona Isolation Ward at the hospital, has been engaged in the treatment of COVID-19 patients for the past two months.
However, on March 30, his mother passed away at the age of 93. Rammurti was in a state of shock and rued the fact that he could not spend time with his mother during her final days.
But placing his duty above everything else, Rammurti took the brave decision of skipping his mother's funeral, and instead opted to stay back at the hospital to help in the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Meena, who hails from the village of Ranauli in Karauli district, witnessed his mother's final rites via a video call.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Meena said that though he felt extremely sad when he heard the news of his mother's demise, he shouldered a much bigger responsibility at a time when the entire world is battling a pandemic.
He added that if he had chosen to attend his mother's funeral, he would have also endangered the lives of others, as he spends a considerable time among suspected and COVID-19 infected patients at the hospital.
Further, Meena has also been boarding at the hospital's 'dharmshala' to avoid putting his family at risk.
