LS Speaker Om Birla's 2 personal assistants assaulted; 4-5 detained

Police are interrogating four to five persons for allegedly assaulting two personal assistants of Om Birla late last night.

Kota: Two personal assistants of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were assaulted late last night near his camp office in Kishorpura police station area. Police have detained four to five persons in connection with the incident while the injured were taken to Bharat Vikas Hospital in Dadabadi Pratap Nagar.

According to DSP Amar Singh Rathore, the incident took place at around 1 am when Birla's personal assistants, named Jeevandhar Jain and Raghavendra Singh were talking to each other, around 50 metres away from the camp office. Suddenly a speeding bike came from the opposite direction and hit them. Along with Birla's assistants, the biker and the pillion-rider were injured. Following which, all four got into a verbal altercation.

The biker then called some other people from the locality and allegedly started assaulting Jeevandhar and Rahgvendra. The assaulters snatched away the mobile phones from Birla's assistants. After getting information about the incident, police reached the spot but the accused had absconded by that time. Jeevandhar and Raghavendra were admitted to the hospital in injured condition.

Police took up the case on utmost priority. The Kota city superintendent of police Sharad Chaudhary reached Kishorapura police station late on Wednesday night. This apart, other police officers also reached the police station.

The police have detained around four to five persons, who are currently being questioning. Police said the bike owner Amir Ghosi has also been detained for questioning. It was learnt that Amir was not present at the time of the incident.
