Barmer: As the Rajasthan government is focusing to prevent coronavirus pandemic, the farmers in Barmer and regions nearby are facing crop loss due to locusts.
Swarms of locusts from Pakistan have attacked crops in Shivkar village, Barmer and nearby places on Sunday. Within half an hour, the locusts ruined the crops and plants.
The people tried various methods including clapping hands to get rid of locusts.
Barmer Zila Collector Vishram Mina said: " The locusts are entering regularly from Pakistan and Jasalmer. Continuous efforts are being made to control it."
"We have controlled it in 6,745 hectare area and plans are being made to identify places were locusts are found in the night," he added.
In the morning, the pesticides are being spread with the help of tractors and other vehicles.
"We are continuously working to get rid of the locusts attack. We hope that soon there will be control over it, "Vishram said.
