Ajmer: The Assam Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell have arrested suspended IAS officer Sewali Devi Sharma along with her son-in-law and another accused from Rajasthan'a Ajmer in connection with the SCERT 'scam' case, sources said. Sharma was arrested along with her son-in-law and a contractor Amin by a team of Assam CM Vigilance Cell from Ajmer on Sunday night, they said.
The accused were hiding in the Cross Line Hotel on Jaipur Road since Friday. On Monday, the Assam Police, in collaboration with the Kotwali police station, produced Sewali Devi Sharma in the court. Sources said that the Assam Police filed transit warrant application in Additional Senior Civil Judge and Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court No. 1 to take accused to Assam to face further trial.

After getting the approval of the transit warrant from the court, the Assam Police will take Sewali Devi Sharma to Assam. It is learnt that a team of Assam Police reached Ajmer late evening on Sunday following specific inputs about the presence of the accused there. The Assam IAS officer and the two other accused have been arrested in connection with the financial irregularities and misappropriation of funds in State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
Pertinently, IAS officer Sewali Devi Sharma is accused to have embezzled Rs 105 crore during her tenure as Executive cum Director of the Assam SCERT. After the allegations came to the light, the Assam government suspended Sharma on Mar. 19 this year. The tainted IAS officer was absconding in the case.
