Sikar: On December 3rd, 1971, the Indian Army was given the order to initiate a war with Pakistan. This lasted for 13 days and on December 16th, 1971, Pakistan surrendered before the Indian Army.
Along with this, over 93,000 Pakistani soldiers also surrendered. This war was fought to liberate East Pakistan i.e. Bangladesh from Pakistan.
Jawans from Sikar of Rajasthan also took part in the war of which 50 of them acquired martyrdom.
Arjun Singh Bijarnia, Rameshwar Ram, Navrang Lal, Bhagirath Singh, Fusa Singh, Richpal Singh, Indra Singh, Kesar Dev, Shamshad Ali, Rekharam, Danaram, Ibrahim Khan, Mangej Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Sanwar Ram, Mohan Singh, Ganpat Ram, Mustaq Ali, among other soldiers from Sikar were martyred.
Braveheart Arjun Singh Bijarnia's mortal remains did not reach his home
Shaheed Arjun Singh Bijarnia from Bibipur village sacrificed his life for the nation just after three years of his marriage. His wife recollects that she was informed via a telegram about her husband's sacrifice for the nation in the December 1971 war. His brother informed that instead of Arjun's mortal remains, his clothes and few of his belongings only were sent back to his home. As an aid, only land was allotted to them in the village. But they were not provided with any financial assistance. His son informed that his mother gets a pension from the Shaheed quota, apart from it no other help has yet reached them.
Jawans Bhagwan Singh and Ramchandra Jat share their fearless act
Bhagwan Singh and Ramchandra Jat, who fought in 1971 war, shared how bravely they took part in the war which was called immediately. Bhagwan Singh said that he along with his colleagues had held hundreds of Pakistani soldiers hostage. Meanwhile, Ramchandra said that they attacked Pakistani soldiers in Bangladesh and forced them to surrender their arms and weapons.
