Watch: Woman attacks man with an iron rod in Chandigarh

In a road rage incident, a girl allegedly attacked a 26-year-old youth with a rod, leaving him injured, near Tribune Chowk on Wednesday. The incident led to high drama and traffic snarls. The girl was arrested shortly after the incident.

Chandigarh: A 26-year-old man was allegedly attacked with an iron rod by a woman when their vehicles rammed into each other on Wednesday.

The woman, identified as Sheetal Sharma, a resident of Mohali hit the man's car while reversing her car. When the man objected, the woman began arguing with him. She then took out an iron rod from her car and thrashed him in public view.

The incident was reported from the Tribune Chowk area of the city and the video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

The victim Nitish, who drove a Maruti Suzuki Santro, has been recognised as a resident of Sector 29 locality.

He alleged that he drove from a nearby roundabout to the road where the girl was driving very rashly.

The incident resulted in traffic snarls at the busy Tribune Chowk as people gathered around taking videos of the fight.

The Police Control Vans reached the crime spot and a case has been registered from the 'Industrial Area' police station.

The man was taken to the hospital and the vehicles have been seized, said the police.

The girl was arrested shortly after the incident and will be soon produced in the court. The victim's statement was later recorded and the case has been registered under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

These include section 308 (attempting to commit culpable homicide), section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), section 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and lastly, section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
