New Delhi: Thousands of Namdhari followers held protests at Jantar Mantar here as there have been no arrests made in the Namdhari Guru Mata Chand Kaur case in the last three-and-a-half years.
The protestors accused Punjab police of not arresting the accused in the case despite being aware of the whole scenario.
Members of Mata Chand Kaur Action Committee said, "A murder is committed inside a Gurdwara and not a single person is arrested, it highlights the partial approach of CBI and Punjab Police."
Many of these protestors have argued time and now that the charge of this murder indirectly falls on the management of the Gurudwara.
"There are CCTV cameras installed all around the Gurudwara, metal detectors installed at gates, around 50 security personnel present around the building, still a murder takes place in there. How? and who is responsible?" some of them questioned.
They have requested the Prime Minister for a free and fair investigation in the case.
Mata Chand Kaur who was the wife of former Namdhari sect head Jagjit Singh was shot by unidentified people in Ludhiana in 2016.
Post her death, theories of succession war between the family began to emerge.
In 2012, head of the sect Satguru Jagjit Singh passed away and Chand Kaur appointed Uday Singh as the next head, triggering a strong opposition from Dalip Singh.
The community is coordinated by Dalip Singh from a parallel seat in Sirsa.
