Amritsar (Punjab) : Balwinder Kaur, mother of arrested Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh, has said that her son has surrendered regardless of whatever the police were saying about the matter. She said that her son Amritpal has surrendered to the police after preparing a Sikh Bana and reciting Panj Bania, the video of which has also come out.
Balwinder's comments came at a time when there were conflicting versions in the media yesterday. However, the Punjab Police clarified later that the Khalistani preacher was surrounded and arrested. Prior to that, there were reports that Amritpal Singh had planned his surrender or arrest outside a Gurudwara in Rode in Punjab's Moga. Rode happens to be the native village of Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
On Sunday morning, 'Waris Punjab De' chief Amritpal Singh was arrested after a 36-day chase in towns and villages in Punjab and neighbouring states. The police immediately sent Amritpal to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam yesterday itself. After this, his mother has come before the media and said specific things about Amritpal's arrest.

Balwinder Kaur interacted with the media in Jalupur Khera, Amritsar when she said that her son has surrendered, whatever the police say, her son has surrendered. She said that her son has been arrested in full Sikh form. She also said that Amritpal's wife will not go to England soon and she will meet Amritpal first. Amritpal's mother says the government is trying to tarnish the image of Sardars.
Balwinder Kaur said that she was proud of her son and that Amritpal would have the blessings of God always. She appealed to the Sangat to initiate the Khalsa Vehir. She said that her son first addressed the congregation and then surrendered himself in Sikh form but the police could not find Amritpal. Balwinder said that we came to know from the media that Amritpal Singh has been caught.
