Chandigarh: Amid growing squabbles within the Punjab Congress, AICC general secretary Harish Rawat on Tuesday met state party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu at Chandigarh. After the meeting, Rawat said there was no dispute in the party's state unit and there was only one camp which is the Congress camp.

Rawat, who is on a two-day visit to the state, said he will try to meet chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday. "Congress is not like the BJP where there is no democracy. I am available for anyone who wants to meet me. I will also try to meet the chief minister on Wednesday," he said.

"The Punjab unit's organisational structure will be set up and Sidhu has assured that the whole process will be geared up in the next fifteen days," he further said. Congress working presidents Kuljit Nagra, Pawan Goel and PPCC general secretary Pargat Singh were also present in the meeting.

Rawat's visit follows days after four ministers, belonging to the camp of Sidhu, sought the removal of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh as he 'failed to resolve the issues in the state and did not fulfill promises made during the 2017 state election'. Four cabinet ministers and few party legislators had met Rawat in Dehradun on August 25 demanding Sidhu's appointment as CM candidate for the forthcoming Legislative Assembly elections in the state.

On August 28, Rawat had met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and briefed him about the situation in the state.
