Bhatinda: A 23-year-old woman from Punjab's Barnala district, who had gone to Canada to study, died mysteriously in Toronto.
Samandeep Kaur, daughter of Jaspal Singh Jassu from Nainewal village, had gone to Toronto four years ago to study, her family in Barnala said.
The victims' father said that his daughter had gone to her cousin's place in Saskatchewan two months ago.
"Samandeep's cousin had gone to the office yesterday. After she came back and found Samandeep missing, she informed the police. Later, her body was recovered from the basement of the house," Jaspal Singh said.
The news has sent shockwaves across her village and her parents are yet to come to terms with the news.
The woman’s father said the Canada police are ascertaining the cause of the death and a probe is underway.
