Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who turned 73 on Wednesday, did not celebrate his birthday in view of devastations caused by cyclone Fani that hit the state on May 3.
Greetings and wishes poured in from across the country for the Chief minister. However, one individual's wishes stood out from all the rest.
Khageswar Deheri (35), who is a die-hard fan of Patnaik, gave himself a new look on the occasion.
He painted himself, transformed his haircut, brought a birthday cake and wore a banner around his neck.
"I love Naveen Patnaik sir very much. Mr Patnaik is like a God to me and I can do anything for him," said Deheri to the media.
His unique way of expressing love garnered a lot of attention as people gathered outside the Biju Janata Dal office to see him.
On the other hand, Biju Janata Dal organised statewide blood donation camps to mark the day. Altogether 60 such camps were held by the BJD across the state.
The CM himself inaugurated a camp in the state capital Bhubaneswar and gave a rose and a certificate under Jeevan Bindu, a voluntary blood donation programme of the state, to every donor.
Patnaik is on the CM chair continuously since March 2000. He has created a record in the state politics by becoming CM for five times in a row.
