Bhubneswar (Odisha): Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former Brajarajnagar MLA Anup Sai has been detained by police in Chhattisgarh over his alleged involvement in a double murder case in 2016.
Chakradharnagar police have detained the BJD leader and is questioning him in the murder case of a mother-daughter duo in April 2016, said sources.
"Raigarh SP called me last night and informed that they have detained Sai in a year-old case. The police had earlier summoned him in connection with the case. Since Sai did not appear before the police, the police detained him for interrogation," said Aswini Kumar Mohanty, Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police.
Sai, a former MLA of Brajarajnagar in Odisha's Sundargarh district, is serving as the chairman of Odisha Warehousing Corporation after joining the ruling BJD in 2014.

Sai was elected as Brajarajnagar MLA thrice on a Congress ticket. Later, he joined the BJD in 2014 and contested Assembly elections unsuccessfully.
