Bhubaneswar: Following cyclone Taukate which has wreaked havoc in the west coast, another cyclone, namely Yaas, is likely to hit Odisha, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Wind warning is issued in the state based on the forecast of the cyclonic storm over Bay of Bengal.

A low pressure area is very likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal around May 22. It is very likely to intensify gradually into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 72 hours. It is very likely to move northwestwards and reach Odisha-West Bengal coasts around May 26 evening, the IMD said.

Odisha special relief commissioner, Pradeep Jena, has held a pre-cyclone meeting with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), Odisha Police and Fire Services Department.
Jena has also held discussion with Collectors, Superintendent of Police, Fire Officers, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) and Emergency Officers of 10 districts.
