After the ordeal of the Odia students surfaced on social media and news channels, who were stranded in Andhra Pradesh due to the lockdown, have returned to the state on Wednesday.

Bhubaneswar: As many as 43 students from Odisha who were stranded in Andhra Pradesh, have returned to the state on Wednesday.

According to sources, the ordeal of the students surfaced on social media and news channels. Due to lockdown as many as 43 Bachelor of Education students from Odisha were stranded state in Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh.

The students had also urged the state government to take immediate action and evacuate them at the earliest. These students had gone to Andhra Pradesh for their Bachelors in Education (BEd) examinations, sources said.

After a video recorded by the student went viral on social media platforms, the Chief Secretary Odisha contacted his counterpart in Andhra Pradesh and requested him to intervene in the matter. After his intervention, the local administration in Prakasham district reached out to the students and conducted a health check-up and certified that the students were healthy and good to travel, sources said.

Markapur MLA then facilitated the travel arrangements of the students to Odisha through two APSRTC buses. The students have boarded the APSRTC buses on March 24 at around 10:40 PM and reached Odisha by this afternoon. All students have expressed their gratitude towards both the state government officials and chief ministers also, sources added.
