Bhubaneswar (Odisha): Laxmi Sagar Police in Bhubaneswar arrested two persons in connection with the pasting of ‘Missing’ posters of Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi in the capital city on Thursday.
Interestingly, the two arrested by the police are close associates of the BJP MP from Bhubaneswar.
While one of the arrestees identified as Dhaneswar Barik is Sarangi’s personal assistant (PA), the other arrestee identified as Jyoti Ranjan Panda is said to be a close associate of hers.
However, it is not yet clear why such posters were affixed while the MP is in Delhi and why her close associates affixed the posters.
Posters captioned ‘nikhoj’ (meaning missing) in Odia with a picture of the MP questioning her whereabouts and silence over the non-withdrawal of proposed heritage bye-laws for Ekamra Kshetra framed by the National Monuments Authority (NMA) were found pasted in lanes and bylanes of Old Town area of the city.
Reacting to the posters the Bhubaneswar MP has tweeted “Am amused that these posters have come up in Bhubaneswar at a time when the budget session of Parliament is on; it is my duty to be in the Lok Sabha now. Am glad Bhubaneswar is ‘missing’ me. It is a great feeling, indeed! As always, I will be among my people from 15th Feb onwards”.
