This octogenarian couple from Maharashtra distributes free masks to Indian Red Cross society

A couple who are in their nineties is making masks at their home and distributing it among the local people and Indian Red Cross society. The couple claimed they have not charged a single penny from anyone in exchange of masks.

Akola (Maharashtra): 94- an age in which most of the people lose hope for life. At this age, an elderly couple hailing from Maharashtra has become a ray of hope for many of us in the time of coronavirus pandemic.

The couple- Mahadev Rao Bhagat and his octogenarian wife Kalawati has stitched thousands of masks for those who cannot afford.

The octogenarian couple claimed they got the noble idea from his neighbour as they are also distributing protective equipment for free.

Rao has a son, who has retired from government service in the recent past, also helps his parents in the stitching of mask.

"We have distributed thousands of masks to some Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and some residents of my colony. I feel very much satisfied while doing this noble work. I never charged a single penny to any NGOs who have collected masks from me", said Rao.

Meanwhile, the octogenarian couple also distributes more than 200 masks to the Red Cross Society. The masks were handed over to the honorary secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society Prabhjit Singh Bacher, honorary manager Mohan Kajale.

The deadly virus which originated from Wuhan province of China has infected more than 3.85 million people and claimed more than 2.5 million lives worldwide.
