NIA recovers 8th car used by Sachin Vaze

NIA has so far recovered 7 vehicles a Green Scorpio, white Innova, two black Mercedes Benz cars, a Land Cruiser Prado, a black Volvo and a white Mitsubishi Outlander that were allegedly used by suspended police officer Sachin Vaze.

Mumbai (Maharashtra): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the Antilia bomb scare case and Mansukh Hiren death case has recovered 8th vehicle, a white colour Mercedes allegedly used by suspended police officer Sachin Vaze.

NIA has so far recovered 7 vehicles a Green Scorpio, white Innova, two black Mercedes Benz cars, a Land Cruiser Prado, a black Volvo and a white Mitsubishi Outlander.

Vaze is at the focus of a probe by the National Investigating Agency in a case related to the recovery of an SUV with explosives near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's house.

Vaze was arrested in the case on March 13 for his alleged role in the crime.

The office was located in the police commissioner's office compound in south Mumbai.

The NIA has so far recorded the statements of seven officials of the Crime Branch including an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

The agency also questioned the CIU's Assistant Police Inspector (API), Riyazuddin Kazi.

Kazi had collected the Digital Video Record (DVR) of CCTVs from the housing society in the Saket area of Thane, where Vaze lived on February 27, two days after the explosives-laden Mahindra Scorpio car was found on Carmichael Road near Ambani's house.

The probe agency suspects that it was collected to destroy evidence that could implicate Vaze himself, the official said. During the search, the DVR was seized.

Kazi had also allegedly procured the fake number plates found in the SUV, the police official claimed.

The SUV case was taken over by the NIA following Hiran's death.

The wife of businessman Mansukh Hiran, who had claimed that the Scorpio was stolen from his possession and who died mysteriously, has alleged that the SUV was being used by Waze for some time.

  • Vehicle no.1 Scorpio: This is the prime vehicle in Antilia security breach which was found parked near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence laden with explosives.
  • Vehicle no. 2 Innova: A CCTV footage showed that an Innova car was trailing behind Scorpio outside Ambani’s residence and apprehension was that the car belonged to Crime Intelligence Unit(CIU).
  • Vehicle no. 3 Mercedes: It was detained from the CSMT station area on the 16th of March.
  • Vehicle no. 4 Prado: This was the same car in which Mansukh and Sachin Vaze had visited the police commissioner’s office.
  • Vehicle no. 5 Mercedes 2: This was the vehicle found in the CSMT area in which Vaze and Mansukh used on 17th February.
  • Vehicle no. 6 Outlander: The vehicle was recovered from Kamothe sector 7 in Navi Mumbai.
  • Vehicle no. 7 Volvo: ATS had taken Volvo car from Daman and arrested two accused Naresh Gore and Vinayak Shinde.
