Mumbai: A special NIA court on Monday examined two motorbikes and five bicycles seized in connection with the 2008 Malegaon blast, in which BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur is facing trial.

NIA judge VS Padalkar presided over this case in which six people were killed and over 100 were injured. The motorcycles and bicycles were recovered from the blast site at Malegaon.

One of the motorcycles, a gold colour LML Freedom is registered in BJP MP Pragya Thakur's name, according to the prosecution.

According to a witness' testimony, it was the same bike which was there at the blast site in Malegaon.

An impoverished explosive device (IED), which triggered the blast, was mounted on the said LML Freedom bike.

The Anti-Terrorist Squad, led by the martyr of 26/11, late Hemant Karkare claimed that out of the two motorbikes, one allegedly belonged to Thakur and was used for the blast by her associate Ramji Kalsangra who is still absconding.

However, NIA gave a clean chit to her under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in their
charge sheet after taking over the investigation in 2011 from Maharashtra ATS.

Sadhvi was only the registered owner of the bike and it was under the possession of Ramji for two years, concluded NIA.

Besides Pragya Thakur, Lt Col Prasad Purohit, retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay, Sudhakar Dwivedi, Ajay Rahirkar and Sudhakar Chaturvedi are also accused in the case.
They have been charged with murder, attempt to murder, voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means,

Under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, the accused have been charged under Section 3, Section 4, Section 5 and Section 6 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
