The Divyang Indian Chambers of Commerce in Maharashtra's Pune is involved in providing free mask stitching training to the physically-challenged people who were facing financial troubles due to the coronavirus induced nationwide lockdown.

Pune: In a noble initiative of providing employment to the differently-abled people in Maharashtra's Pune district, the Divyang Indian Chambers of Commerce is providing free training for stitching masks, which have emerged as an important weapon in the fight against COVID-19.

Many physically-challenged people have become unemployed and are facing financial challenges owing to the COVID-19 induced nationwide lockdown. The Divyang Indian Chamber of Commerce came to their rescue and started providing mask stitching training to them. The training is being provided since the last two months and has helped quite a few people to overcome their dwindling financial condition.

The masks prepared by them are then sent to various companies in Pune district of Maharashtra and the revenue generated by the sale of the masks is shared between these workers.

Many small businesses where the differently-abled people used to work, had been shut down resulting in a survival crisis for them. The Divyang Indian Chamber of Commerce undertook this noble initiative and distributed the materials required to prepare masks and sewing machines to Divyang Welfare Education Institute in which they were given training.

They are now employed and are preparing masks in Disabled Welfare Education Institute and Research Center on a regular basis. The institute has got contracts for masks from different companies in Pune and thus these people are able to eke out a living.
