Mumbai: On behalf of Sakal Maratha Samaj, Maratha Kranti Morcha, a torch march took place at the District Collector's Office in Bandra on Saturday. Maratha leaders including Vinayak Mete had participated in it. A large number of people from the Marathi community participated in this march. Meanwhile, a Maratha Akrosh Morcha took place in Pandharpur this morning. Not all activists participating in the march were allowed outside the city. Only 8 to 10 workers were allowed to go towards Mumbai. They were accompanied by a police escort. This morcha was blocked in Pune.
The postponement of the Maratha reservation has created a great deal of unrest in the Maratha community. This anger in society is being expressed through various movements and meetings. Some of the decisions of the state government, such as the insistence on taking the MPSC exam, the decision to recruit, have added to the dissatisfaction of the Maratha community. Following the Supreme Court's decision to suspend the reservation, the government was expected to take responsible and prompt action to avoid any harm to the Maratha students and youth. It was also necessary to apply to the Supreme Court to set up a bench to lift the stay. But on all these fronts, this Mahavikas Aghadi Government failed. The sub-committee headed by Minister Ashok Chavan has not only failed to take the right decision, but the agitators are also alleging that Ashok Chavan himself is confused.
Against this backdrop, a Maratha Mashal Morcha was held in Mumbai. Initially, the march was to leave the District Collector's Office at Bandra and hit Matoshri. However, as they were not allowed to visit Matoshri. The protest was staged at the Bandra District Collector's Office. Many Maratha brothers had participated in this torch march. Speaking on the occasion, Vinayak Mete said that repression was being carried out through the police. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray should keep the tradition laid down by the late Balasaheb. Public welfare work should be done by giving reservation to Maratha community. The Maratha community did not get justice due to the established Maratha leaders. Therefore, the Maratha community has to take to the streets and agitate.
March from Pandharpur stopped in Pune
Against the backdrop of Maratha reservation, the agitation from Pandharpur to Mantralaya on behalf of Maratha Kranti Morcha started from Pandharpur this morning. Despite the administration imposing a curfew in Pandharpur, only a few Maratha activists started the morcha today, defying the order and bowing down to Namdev. At this time, Sakade Vitthala was asked to give Maratha reservation to the state government and to accept other demands. The march, organized on behalf of the entire Maratha community, was on foot from the Namdev step in front of the Vitthal temple to the Pandharpur city police station. After that, the Maratha brothers boarded ten trains and left for Mumbai. There was a meeting of the office-bearers of Maratha Brothers with the Chief Secretary. The morcha was then called off.
Will not let the government sit quietly after Corona is over
We are preparing for the next agitation through 'Maratha Jodo' movement, but all our agitations are being suppressed by the government, so the government should not see our end, if the role of the government remains the same, we will not allow the government to remain silent if Corona and its influence diminish, a warning was given by the Maratha Kranti Morcha. At a press conference organized by the Mumbai Marathi Press Association, the leaders of the Maratha Kranti Morcha gave this serious warning to the government.
Prashant Sawant of Maratha Kranti Morcha said that our agitation is being suppressed, the government should not see our end. Admission of many students has been stopped, it should be cleared immediately. "Otherwise, we will fight against the government," he warned. Abhijit Patil said that there is no such provision in the law when it comes to recruitment of servants by the government keeping the Maratha community in a separate place. Because of this, we will not allow this recruitment.
